I'd suggest to pick a warrior primary and a monk secondary. You'll familiarize with the game and could see what you like and what you don't in this combination. |

I'd suggest a Elementalist / Monk for the nukes and healing power. A Ele/Necro could work too with the Blood magic.
However, be aware GuildWars is a team based game so having an ally put Life Bond on you for example, will help you take more of a beating. Teamwork is key and so is your entire teams skill layout. Work together. Either of those profession combinations would fit most or all of your criteria, but I'm not clear on what you mean by "beatdown". Combat-wise or just powerful? |

Like Bobangry and DatD said, Warrior/Monk and Elementalist/Monk sound like the right class combos for you. Out of these 2 I'd suggest the Elementalist/Monk since you have more energy and you like spell casters. The warrior is not a spell caster at all and doesn't have much energy, but he can take much more of a beating than the elementalist can.

you would be better served.....
You would be better served going through the character resources located on this site before the next beta event......trying some of the things you learn out and deciding for yourself what you would most want to be. Especially if you are new at the game.
Most of the people who have been playing betas since last year or are in the testing...are more interested in fine tuning GvG builds. Though those are great and make for grand strategy of mass teaming. they may not serve you well enough while you are still learning, because they are more finely attuned to performing single tasks and not general survival. It is infinitely better to make a few mistakes than to have it handed to you. You'll learn quicker,.and appreciate it more. Besides you might stumble onto something nobody else did and find something odd that works well. |
